She enjoys reading, particularly the National Geographic magazine. Ella’s favorite music artists are The Chainsmokers, Odesza, and Rihanna. She habitually shops for t-shirts at Forever 21, because they are inexpensive and comfortable. Tulips, earrings, fashion, and traveling are few of the other things she adores. She supports the Baltimore Ravens and the Georgia Bulldogs. She is a big fan of sports, particularly of football, and has appeared on a few radio talk shows focused on sports. Ella loves Athens, Georgia, where she went to university. Ella has been interested in meteorology since she was four years old, when she first learned about tornadoes through a video her father gave her. She has now returned to her home state of Georgia and resides in Atlanta. After growing up in Maryland and Georgia, Ella has also lived in Knoxville, East Tennessee. In 20, she was dating Michael Strahl, who frequently features on her Instagram posts. She graduated Summa cum Laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Geography and a Certificate in Atmospheric Science. After graduating from high school, Ella attended the University of Georgia, Athens (UGA), where she was at the Franklin College of Arts. At that age, her father gave her a video about tornados, and she fell in love with the study of weather. From the age of four, Dorsey wanted to be a meteorologist. Starting off as a low-level assistant cashier, she had risen through the ranks to become the President. Her grandma had shattered many glass ceilings and had become the first female president of a Missouri-based bank.
In August 2020, Ella’s grandmother passed away. When her parents separated, her mother eventually got a new partner, Bill Mason. Ella has mentioned that her mother was an inspiration to her, and she dreamed of experiencing the same success in her own career. Her mother, Jan Winburn, is currently a senior digital editor for CNN. Ella was raised in Baltimore, Maryland, and then moved to Atlanta, Georgia, when she was thirteen years old. Ella Dorsey was born on May 2nd, 1991, in Baltimore, Maryland, to parents Jan Winburn (mother) and Gary Dorsey (father). In her free time, Haley enjoys skiing, sailing, tennis, snow-shoeing, napping and keeping an eye on the weather. Haley was given the incredible opportunity to intern at WCVB in Boston, Massachusetts during the summers of 20.Īfter graduating from Lyndon State in 2017 with her Bachelors of Science in Atmospheric Sciences and a minor in Journalism, she landed her first job out of school just a few miles down the road, at Local 22 and Local 44 News, in Burlington Vermont. The breathtaking views of Burke Mountain became her all season playground, carving fresh powder down the mountain in the winter, and making boot prints in the mud during the spring and summer, and taking in all the beautiful foliage in the fall. Her passion for math and science was put into action when she began studying Atmospheric Sciences and Meteorology at Lyndon State College now known as Northern Vermont University-Lyndon.Ī transplant Vermonter, Haley instantly fell in love with the Green Mountain State, as soon as she stepped foot on the small Northeast Kingdom Campus back in August of 2012. When asked “what do you want to be when you grow up?” Haley would exclaim without hesitation “I want to be a meteorologist” Growing up in Holliston Massachusetts, Haley developed a love of weather from a very young age. Her earliest fascination was founded out of fear for lightning and thunder, Haley learned that tracking the storms and watch local weather reports could help eliminate the element of surprise an overnight thunderstorm can bring. In August 2019, Haley found herself with some big shoes to fill, taking over the Morning Meteorologist role from Amanda, and you can now catch her evenings on Local 22 News and The Local 44 News. Haley Bouley joined Local 22 and Local 44 News in July of 2017 as a Multimedia Journalist and the 4th member of the Skytracker Weather team.
